President&CEO Prof. Fukuda appointed as Visiting Professor at UTM-MJIIT
We are happy to announce that Prof. Shinji Fukuda, President and Chief Executive Officer of Metabologenomics, Inc. has been appointed as a Visiting Professor at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia – Malaysia Japan International Institute of Technology (UTM-MJIIT) on 20th August 2019.
Also, Dr. Tatsuhiro Nomaguchi, Researcher, Global Business Department, has been appointed as a Visiting Lecturer at the same time.
UTM is a leading engineering university. Based on the Look East Policy introduced by Prime Minister, Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad during his previous premiership, MJIIT was established in 2010 with the vision to become a Global Leader in Japan-oriented engineering education, leveraging on the strength of Japanese technology, professional ethics and high-value work.
Metabologenomics, Inc. provided its first international research base in Nest-Bio Venture Lab, a joint laboratory established by Leave a Nest Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. and MJIIT, UTM, and is preparing to start gut environment research in Southeast Asia.
In the wake of this appointment, Metabologenomics, Inc. aims to collaborate with not only Japanese partners but also universities, governmental agencies, and companies in Southeast Asia. We will study the gut environment in Southeast Asian to understand the relationship with their unique dietary habit and/or lifestyle, and to promote gut environment research in Malaysia and Southeast Asia for industrial application.

Dr. Fukuda has founded and is the President CEO of Metabologenomics, Inc. since 2015.
After obtaining his Ph.D. in microbiology and biochemistry from Meiji University, Japan in 2006, he undertook several research positions at RIKEN, Institute of Physical and Chemical Research. He was then appointed as Project Associate Professor at Institute for Advanced Biosciences, Keio University in 2012, subsequently appointed to Project Professor in 2019.
He has won many prestigious awards including the Nice-Step researcher by National Institute of Science and Technology Policy (NISTEP) in 2015; and the highest award, the first Bioscience Grand Prix in 2015 with the business plan “Creating stool-borne healthy society”.

Dr. Nomaguchi spent his childhood in Canada and high school days in the United Kingdom. He received Ph.D. in molecular biology from Waseda University, Japan then joined Metabologenomics, Inc. in 2018. Since he joined the Metabologenomics, Inc., he is in charge for global business development as well as data analysis in R&D.
